On July 3, the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan received Eiji Taguchi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia.

Welcoming the Ambassador in the National Assembly, Ara Babloyan noted: This year marks the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between our countries. During those years the Armenian-Japanese relations have been sustainably developing, expanding in new spheres and replenishing with a new content.”

In the RA NA Speaker's word, the development of the mutually beneficial cooperation with Japan occupies an important place in the foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia, and there is a special interest in our country towards history and culture of Japan.

Ara Babloyan expressed his gratitude to the Government of Japan for the support provided to Armenia during many years and for the assistance programmes in our country.

The Head of the parliament highlighted the role of the active cooperation and the inter-parliamentary ties, especially the parliamentary Friendship Groups on the agenda of the Armenian-Japanese bilateral relations.

The RA NA Speaker expressed readiness to promote the strengthening of the Armenian-Japanese inter-parliamentary relations.

Ara Babloyan expressed hope that Japan will continue to show its adopted balanced position over the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

Eiji Taguchi congratulated Ara Babloyan on being elected RA National Assembly Speaker and wished him fruitful work.

The Ambassador highly assessed the level of the current relations between Japan and Armenia and documented that since the establishment the Embassy has aspired to develop and deepen relations between the two countries. Mr Taguchi referred to the support programmes being underway by the Government of Japan in Armenia, the issues concerning the liberalization of the entry visas between the two friendly countries and the revelation of new ways of development of trade-economic cooperation.

Eiji Taguchi emphasized the Constitutional reforms in our country, the transition to the parliamentary system of government, noting that it is one more step by which Armenia approaches Japan.

At the end of meeting the interlocutors have noted that the sakuras growing in the National Assembly Park symbolize the Armenian and Japanese peoples’ friendship, which deepens year by year irrespective of geographical distance.
